Evaluation
The Butler Institute for Families at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of School of Social Work, in partnership with the University of Iowa and the University of Michigan, is leading the evaluation of the NCWWI. The plan includes comprehensive evaluation of all NCWWI program elements, using mixed method design elements such as qualitative case studies, group and individual interviews and observations, quantitative paper/pencil and web-based surveys, and longitudinal designs to examine learning and skill utilization over time. Some of the specific NCWWI evaluation strategies include:
1. Formative and outcome evaluation of the Leadership Academy for Supervisors (LAS) and the Leadership Academy for Middle Managers (LAMM) to assess the development and delivery of the training and development of leadership skills of supervisors and managers. The assessment includes a pre-post design through administration of online questionnaires that examine growth in leadership competencies, transfer of learning, and facilitators and barriers to transfer.
2. Evaluation of the funded Traineeship Programs through longitudinal assessment of Stipend Students' learning, skill development, and transfer of learning to the job. Stipend Students at more than 20 schools of social work will complete baseline and annual assessments during their traineeships as well as on the job during their repayment periods. The evaluation will also examine instructional design innovations across the traineeship programs,
3. Evaluation of the Peer Networks to examine delivery of content, stakeholder participation and learning, and the extent to which the networks foster the deevlopment of communities of practice among peers.
